DAMAGED SYPHON AT LAING DAM AND BHISHO PUMP STATION
Please be advised that the following listed areas will be affected by damages occurred in Laing Dam during the course of the day. Due to the Amatola Water strike there are damages at the station and various areas will be affected by water outages. Ilitha Township water levels are sitting at 25% at the moment. Bhisho Tower water levels are sitting at 45% while Bhisho Main is sitting at 20%. All others areas are still fine for now, however, levels will drop as the day goes by, those areas include Ndevana Village; Phakamisa Township; Zwelitsha Township; Bhisho Central and surroundings; Mlakalaka Village; Kwalini Village; Bhonke Village and Cliff Village.Additional water tankers have been procured and will be dispatched when required in the areas.
The syphon at Laing Dam was restored at 12pm today. It will take 2–3 days to fully restore the supply system to affected areas.
Areas currently without water will be supplied with water tankers until the matter is resolved.
