BCM HOSTS WALK AGAINST GBV AS PART OF THE 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN ABUSE
On Tuesday, 28 November 2023 Executive Mayor Councillor Princess Faku took part in a walk to raise awareness against Gender Based Violence (GBV) at Moore Street, East London.

The programme led by BeyondZero was rooted in principles of human rights, equality and justice, endeavors to cultivate an environment where women and children can readily access services, safeguard their rights and experience social well-being.

Welcoming everyone at the event, Executive Mayor said organizations such as Beyond Zero are always welcome in the Metro. "We are grateful for the work that you are doing, advocating for the rights of marginalised. Not only that, but also fighting against Gender Based Violence in our city," said Faku.

"I plead with men to stop abusing women and children. Men who abuse women must know that as Buffalo City we do not condone that behavior, and we will do everything to support victims of abuse," she said.

She added that she works closely with the LGBTQI community, and would like to ask the public to allow people to live boldly as they wish.
