Ironman Road Closures
The BCMM Traffic Department would like to inform all about the road closure for the upcoming Ironman 70.3 Road Closures as well as the alternative route for the duration of the event

TIME FOR ROAD CLOSURES: FROM 06H15

 

• The N2 from Beacon Bay off ramp to Blaney intersection will be closed from 06h15 and re-opened when all the cyclists are off the N2
• The N2 from Blaney intersection to the NEX off ramp will be closed from 06h30 and re-opened if all cyclist are off the N2
• The 2 lanes on the North East Expressway direction Gonubie will be opened once all the cyclist are on the N2

 

START: CYCLE ROUTE

 

• The race starts in the Orient Theatre parking.
• The cyclists will come out at Orient Road,
• Right into Currie Street,
• Onto the Esplanade,
• Left into Moore Street,
• Right into John Baillie Road,
• Left into Buffalo Park Drive,
• Turn right onto the North East Expressway,
• Left onto the N2 direction KWT,
• Left onto Berlin off ramp,
• Right at the Berlin off ramp direction Berlin Industrial Area,
• Right onto the N2 on ramp direction East London,
• Left at North East Expressway on ramp,
• Return via the same route and finishing at the Orient Theatre car park.

 

START: RUN ROUTE

 

• From the transitional area the runners will run along the Esplanade,
• Into Link Road,
• Right into John Bailie Road,
• Right into Turnberry Avenue,
• along Gleneagles Road,
• Right into Galway Road turning at the turning point in Galway Road and Return via the same route finishing at the Orient Pool.

2. N2 at Blaney intersection direction East London on the N2
3. N2 on ramp at Bonza Bay Main Road direction East London
4. N2 on ramp at North East Expressway direction King Williams Town
5. N2 on ramp at Western Avenue interchange  direction Gonubie
6. N2 on ramp at Meadow Road direction King Williams Town
7. Amalinda Main at N2 on ramp direction King Williams Town
8. Amalinda Main at N2 on ramp direction Gonubie
9. N2 on ramp at Nahoon Dam interchange direction King Williams Town
10. N2 on ramp at Nahoon Dam interchange direction East London
11. N2 on ramp at Fort Jackson interchange direction King Williams Town
12. N2 on ramp at Fort Jackson interchange direction East London

4. St Peters Road at Nahoon View Road
5. North East Expressway on ramp at Pearce Street interchange direction North
6. North East Expressway on ramp at Pearce Street interchange direction South
7. Old Transkei Main Road and NEX on ramp direction City
8. N2 on ramp at North East Expressway direction Gonubie (Sasol Garage)
9. North East Expressway at Wyse Ave

1. Orient Road closed at Hillview Road
2. Currie Street closed at Brighton Street
3. Rhodes Street at Brighton Street
4. Esplanade closed at Rhodes Street
5. Esplanade closed at Quanza Street
6. Esplanade closed at Fitzpatrick Road
7. Esplanade closed at Clifford Street
8. Esplanade closed at Inverleith Terrace
9. Esplanade closed at Long Fellow Street
10. Moore Street closed at the Holiday Inn entrance
11. John Bailie Road closed at Mc Jannet Drive
12. John Bailie Road closed at Turnburry Road
13. John Bailie Road closed at Ainsdale Road

 

 

LANE CLOSURE: TURNBERRY AVENUE AND GALWAY ROAD

 

1. The right hand lane up Turnberry Avenue, left into Gleneagles Road and turning right into Galway Road will be closed for traffic.
2. The left hand lane in Galway Road will be divided into two lanes.
3. The right hand lane up Turnberry Avenue, left into Gleneagles Road and turning right into Galway Road will be closed for traffic.
4. Galway Road will be closed between Epsom Road and Gleneagels Road.

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES AS PER N2 INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:

 

• FROM GONUBIE TO KWT

 

From N2 left into Beacon Bay off ramp, left into Bonza Bay Main Road, right into Batting Road, left into Old Transkei Road, right into Pearce Street, into Lukin Road, right into Oxford Street, left onto Amalinda Main Road to Voortrekker Road, left onto Voortrekker Road into R102, right at Ndevana/Ilitha Street and continue with the N2.

 

                                                      OR

 

From N2 left into Beacon Bay off ramp, right into Bonza Bay Main Road, right into Wyse Ave, left into Old Transkei Road, right into Pearce Street, into Lukin Road, right into Oxford Street, left into Amalinda Main Road to Voortrekker Road, left into Voortrekker Road, into R102, right at Ndevana/Ilitha Street and continue with the N2.

 

• FROM KWT TO GONUBIE

From N2 right into Ilitha/Ndevana Road, left onto the R102 into Voortrekker Road, right into Amalinda Main Road, right into Oxford Street, left into Lukin Road, into Pearce Street, left into Old Transkei Road, into Batting Road, left into Bonza Bay Road, right onto the M10  and continue with the N2.
