BCM EXECUTIVE MAYOR VACCINATED
Buffalo City Metro Executive Mayor Cllr. Xola Pakati today joined the elderly residents aged 60 years and older at the Bhisho Hospital to receive a Covid-19 vaccination jab.

This is part of government phase 2 of its vaccination roll out programme that was officially launched on Monday targeting healthcare workers, those who are above 60 years and those living with comorbidities.

After taking the jab the Executive Mayor encouraged the people to get vaccinated and for young people to assist the elderly with registration.

“I would like to encourage Buffalo City residents to register for the vaccine, that will assist us in reducing the number of infections. I am pleading with all the eligible candidates to register at all health facilities. There are facilities throughout the Metro prepared by the department of Health for this particular service.”

He also said, “I am also pleased that the third wave hasn’t arrived in the City but that doesn’t mean we should wait for it and be practising careless behaviour.”

Government has targeted to vaccine 5 million elderly people in phase 2 of the roll out by the end of June. About 4.5 million doses of Pfizer and 2 million doses from Johnson & Johnson are expected to be received.
