BCMM LED UNIT HANDOVER TOOLS OF TRADE FOR BUSINESSES

The Business Unit in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) handed over tools of trade to several small businesses operating across Buffalo City on Thursday, 11 June 2026.
The handover ceremony took place at Billy Francis Community Hall and benefited entrepreneurs from various sectors, including car washes, beauty salons, and catering services.
The initiative is aimed at supporting small business growth, promoting economic empowerment, and creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods within local communities.
Speaking at the event, Portfolio Head for Local Economic Development, Amanda Mnyute, encouraged beneficiaries to use the equipment responsibly and seize the opportunity to grow their businesses.
"These tools are more than just equipment; they are an investment in your future. We urge all beneficiaries to take care of them, use them to strengthen and expand their businesses, and create opportunities for others. Economic empowerment begins with each of us taking responsibility for building sustainable enterprises that can contribute to job creation and community development."
The programme forms part of BCMM's ongoing commitment to supporting small enterprises, stimulating local economic development, and encouraging job creation across the municipality.
"Our goal is to ensure that small businesses are equipped with the resources they need to succeed. When local businesses grow, they need to succeed. When local businesses grow, they contribute to a stronger local economy and create employment opportunities that benefit entire communities," added Cllr Mnyute.
One of the beneficiaries, Siphokazi Makawu expressed her gratitude after receiving the tools of trade.
"This is all emotional for me. I am grateful for what I have received, and I thank God for keeping me going even when things were difficult. This support gives me hope and motivation to continue growing my business and creating a better future for myself and my family," she said.
