NATIONAL CLEAN-UP AND RECYCLING WEEK
The National Clean-up and Recycling Week kicks off today until 17 September with various clean-up campaigns being planned for neighborhoods and beaches. One of the highlights of this annual environmental awareness event, will be the Sod Turning of the Buy Back Centre in Duncan Village and Launch of the Public Employment Programme which will be taking place on Friday, 16 September.

 

 

Clean-up and Recycle SA Week is an annual initiative by the local plastics industry, supported and endorsed by the various packaging streams and retailers. Each year, close to 120 000 volunteers participate in these clean-up activities that take place along roadsides, rivers, schools, residential and illegal dumping areas.

The Municipal Services Directorate has identified in all three regions with activities including street sweeping, litter picking, clearance of illegal dumps and collection of non and recyclable waste.
