Buffalo City Metro together with the office of the MEC for Social Development in the Eastern Cape Siphokazi Lusithi today, 25 Feb-ruary 2022, visited Mbekweni Primary school in Ward 24 in a programme of handing over the Mathematics and Science Kit that has been donated by the Eastern Cape Gambling B

The initiative was also accompanied by other governmental departments such as Home Affairs, Health Department, South African Police Services (SAPS), South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and other stakeholders to bring services of outreach pro-grammes closer to the people.
As part of their CSI programme, the Eastern Cape Gambling Board identified this school in Ward 24 as the beneficiary to plough back to.

Speaking on the purpose of the event Ward Councillor Melisizwe Tutu said, “We are blessed to have such an event taking place in our ward, our children need to know from an early age what they need to be when they grow up and the City could do with more doctors too, especially with all these viruses. We are thankful to all stakeholders present here today.”

Giving words of gratitude school principal Phumzile Tyindyi said, “This is a beautiful day for our school, the next doctors and scien-tists will be produced from here and we will all remember this day, these subject areas need to be developed from a foundation phase and from today it will be possible for us, we have nothing more to say either than thank you to everyone who has contribut-ed to making this day such a success.”

Other stakeholders who were part of the program include Old Mutual and the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbi-tration.
