Prioritising the rehabilitation and upgrading of roads is one of the Metro’s key pillar of service delivery. The Metro is currently working tirelessly together with the appointed contractors in giving residents and motorists better road infrastructure. The Roads Team is working in the Kwelera Road another road is the Quenera Road linking Gonubie and Beacon Bay.
The recent reopening of Galway Road in Nahoon by Executive Mayor Cllr Princess Faku reflects the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to delivering visible and meaningful infrastructure improvements for residents.
Speaking at the Galway Road Opening, Faku emphasised the importance of keeping the City’s infrastructure intact. “Although extensive damage caused by persistent adverse weather conditions in the Metro, we will work tirelessly to give better services to the people.”
Several additional road projects are nearing completion and will soon be officially handed over across the Metro.
Beyond improving mobility and road safety, these infrastructure interventions are also contributing to local economic development and job creation.
Through these projects, BCMM continues to empower local contractors, create employment opportunities for community members, and stimulate economic activity while rebuilding and strengthening public infrastructure.
The Municipality is encouraged by the progress already achieved, with many roads across Buffalo City being properly repaired through long-term engineering solutions aimed at improving durability, resilience and safer travel conditions for all road users.
BCMM remains committed to building and maintaining quality road infrastructure that supports economic growth, enhances community safety and improves the quality of life for all residents of Buffalo City.
The Executive Mayor will also handover the Pedestrian Bridge at Ward 14 in Mdantsane later this week.
